ACTIVITIES
Pelion provides infinite activities no matter the season. For the adventurous there is hiking the local kalderimia, visiting historical sites, exploring Pelion on horseback and sailing the blue waters of the Pagasitikos. For those who wish for a laid back holiday, you can lounge on the beach, chilling out in hammocks with a good book, birdwatching, painting and enjoying the local tavernas.
POTISTIKA BEACH
On the Agean side of Mount Pelion, and only a 20 minute drive from Belian, is the beautiful, sandy beach of Potistika. Start the day with wave surfing and finish off with a cocktail and nibbles at the restaurant/bar, Climax.
TAVERNAS

NATIONAL HERITAGE HOUSE
These white-washed houses are considered a National Heritage Site. Surrounded by amazing crystal clear blue waters, the isolated houses and small beach are only accessable by boat and on foot through a small dirt road.
SAILING
There are several businesses that offer sailing opportunities around the Pagasitikos bay. You can visit small, isolated islands and enjoy swimming in their blue waters. You might even spot a dolphin or two! You can also visit the island of Trikeri and its historical monastery.
METEORA MONASTERIES
Built on stunning rock pillars, these monasteries are a must see when visiting Pelion. They are a two and a half hour drive from Belian. The budding city of Trikala, located below the monasteries, is a beautiful pitstop for lunch. The city itself has many historical sites worth visiting, including the Byzantine castle, the clock tower and the old town, Varousi.
HIKING
Discover Pelion by trekking the local trails called 'kalderimia'. You can join a group by contacting 'friends of the kalderimia' website if you are interested in guided walks. There are different distaces and paths to choose from depending on your physical abilities, so you can locate the desired path on the 'friends of the kalderimia' website map if you wish to walk by yourself.
HIKING
One beautiful hike leads to the Paou monastery, built in 1778 and dedicated to Saint Nicholas.
MOUNT OLYMPUS
A two hour drive away, Mount Olympus is a stunning place to visit. Whether you take a leisurely walk or a longer hike, Mount Olympus has amazing scenery and views. For more avid hikers who wish to reach the peak of the mountain, overnight stays at the refuge are possible.
AGIA KIRIAKI
Agia Kiriaki, a small fishing village, is the southern most village of the Pelion penninsula. It has delicious seafood tavernas where you can enjoy the view of the Agean sea and a few serene coves to swim in.
ARGALASTI
A five minute drive from the house, Argalasti is the local village. It meets all your basic needs and there are plenty of tavernas and coffee shops to enjoy. On Saturday mornings it hosts the local market, which is well worth the visit. It also has its local panayeria, celebrating saints days.
TRAIN RIDE THROUGH PELION
Starting at Ano Lechonia, this old steam train will take you through the mountains of Pelion to the village of Milies where you can enjoy a delicious lunch before heading home in the afternoon.
